Our Curriculum Rationale
INTENT
Our intention is to use our curriculum to:
nurture curiosity, creativity and confidence.
encourage our children to turn their aspirations into reality.
prepare children for challenges, opportunities and responsibility.
We have designed our curriculum to encompass knowledge and understanding of the world in which we live, and also the events that have shaped it in the past to make it what it is today. Our engaging and exciting curriculum stimulates our children into asking searching questions, shapes their learning and enables them to develop into independent thinkers and learners.
IMPLEMENTATION
We meet our statutory obligations using the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory framework and the National Curriculum and enhance this through our wider curriculum provision.
We ensure effective progression in our subjects through the use of Development Matters, Focus Education’s Weaving document, PSHE Association guidelines and the Kirklees, Calderdale and Leeds agreed syllabus for RE. For our core subjects we follow Chris Quigley Essentials and Big Maths.
We review, evaluate and improve our subject delivery through coaching and mentoring, by consulting pupils and analysing outcomes.
Through monitoring, subject leaders identify areas for improvement, resources required, CPD needs and best practice through the use of evidence based strategies.
IMPACT
Our children develop the knowledge and skills they need to excel, and become creative and curious citizens.
Outcomes for pupils are high which ensures that our pupils have the best possible chance of achieving economic well-being.
Our strong links with partner schools and well embedded transition procedures pupils are well prepared for the next stage of their education.
