Nursery & Reception (EYFS)

Welcome to our Nursery and Reception

Our Early Years is a vibrant, fun, inspiring and engaging place for our youngest learners in school. Our extensive Early Years classrooms and outdoor area provide an inclusive and stimulating environment. This encourages our children to challenge themselves, make informed choices and take controlled risk, thus, building their confidence and independence.

Our Early Years unit provides children with the best start in their school journey and equips them with the knowledge, skills, confidence and resilience to succeed throughout school and into adulthood. We value well-being and ensure that social and emotional development is our first priority. Settling children in to the learning environment, whilst getting to know each other is where we always start.

Learning is supported through rich, first-hand experiences and opportunities that build on children’s prior knowledge and allow them to make sense of the world around them. This allows our children to make connections between key skills and concepts in a meaningful way as they work towards the governments ‘Good level of development’.

We explore our indoor and outdoor area and develop skills in all the 7 areas of learning – Communication and Language, Personal, Social and Emotional, Physical Development, Literacy, Maths, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design.  Children access all our provision to develop their own learning journey throughout the Early Years Foundation Stage.

We believe strongly in ‘stage not age’ development and ensure children get challenge and support depending on their own needs and skills. Our nursery and reception children work together alongside our experienced early years professionals to enable children to develop and thrive. Our skilled staff team understands that the role of the ‘adult’ is to encourage children to communicate confidently and to build positive, caring and meaningful relationships. Our staff develop secure and trusting relationships with all the children in our Early Years classes. They scaffold and facilitate learning by engaging with children in the continuous provision and through guided learning opportunities.

We believe that strong, positive, and supportive relationships with parents and families provide the foundations for children to flourish. We work in partnership with parents throughout the Early Years to celebrate and support children’s achievements. This partnership is fostered in a range of ways such as home visits, transition visits, parent’s evenings, class dojo posts, evidence me observations, reading mornings and our open-door policy to share information at the start and end of each day.

Our wonderful team of early years experts are very much looking forward to supporting you and your child with their next steps as they join our Early Years classes.
