Volunteers and Work Experience / Student Placements
At Golcar J I & N we welcome parents, carers and members of our community who would like to volunteer to help in school.
We greatly appreciate the time and support our current volunteers give to us, but would love to have more of you in school. Please get in touch with us if you feel you could spare any time each week to volunteer. This might involve generally helping out in class, supporting groups and individuals, listening to readers and supporting outdoor learning.
To Apply
We take the safeguarding of children and adults very seriously at our school and all volunteers and placement adults must undergo police checks to ensure that we allow safe adults into our school. All volunteers and students must have had a DBS check before they can work in school. If you do not already have one, or do not have the correct type of DBS check to work with children in school, then we can arrange this for you. There is a section on the application form where you can indicate if you already have a DBS check and which type it is.

Our Commitment to Safeguarding
All Volunteers and students are required to complete E-Learning called ‘An Awareness of Child Abuse and Neglect’ which is provided by The Kirklees Safeguarding Children’s Partnership (KSCP). Instructions on how to complete the free E-Learning, before you start with us, can be found attached to the application form.
Please also familiarise yourself with the following Department for Education advice ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’
You will be given an induction on your first day with us.
